托福听力目的类考点的解题攻略

作为一项检测英语能力的标准化考试,托福考试在题目设置和文章的选择都较为固定,因此每个科目都有其套路和解题攻略,对于考生来说需要在考前熟悉解题攻略配合着提高英语能力,方能拿到较满意的分数。在托福听力考试中,主要有五大考点,他们分别是主旨,细节,目的,原因/结论,和重点词汇且每个考点都有其固定的指路词(又叫做信号词)。本文将主要从目的类考点的举例子入手,解析此类考点考题的解题攻略。[托福培训]


首先何为目的类考点?目的类考点常见的就是举例子。考生在备考刷托福听力题的过程中,常常在听力lecture中做到professor会说‘for example’举一个例子,这基本上是必考题,必出考点。若文章里出现多处examples,考生也不必慌张,考题会从诸多examples里出一至两个,题目的形式只有一种即:教授为什么举这个例子或举这个例子的意义是什么?既然考题问为何举这个例子,那么就需要考生在原文音频中定位到对应的答案句。考生一旦听到for examplefor instance, just like thislet’s say等类似的指路词(提醒自己重点来了或者是要出考点了)就知道音频要举例子,而举例子有这样的一种结构即“1+1+1”结构。何为1+1+1结构?第一个“1”代表考生在听到第二个“1”即例子本身之前需要关注的前面一句描述性语句,正是因为有这样描述性的语句,才会举一个例子来例证它。第三个“1”代表举完例子后面的总结性语句(有时候只会出现1+1,而没有总结性语句),会对前面的描述和例子进行总结,依然是为了例证描述性的句子。[托福培训]

本题出自TPO43 L2,问教授问什么提到six-month-old infants,例子本身前的描述性的语句即ANS is a very basic, innate ability. It's what enables you to decide at a glance whether there are more apples than oranges on a shelf,表明ANS就是一种与身俱来的能力,例子本身说了即使6个月大的孩子也能运用这种能力。那么显而易见,答案选择的是就是A,举这个例子就是为了例证描述性语句。注意音频原文并没有给出非常契合的总结性的语句,即出现了“1+1结构”,这也是托福听力会出现的情况,就需要考生必须听到例子前面描述性的语句,而不能仅仅指望着听到例子后面的总结性语句。
